Raise  your hand if you're as rich as Croesus.  I don't know about you, but my finances are lower rather than higher.  Oh sure, I daydream about the perfect cottage style bedroom, but what can I afford?  Glass cleaner and a trip to the dollar store. 

There's also the troubling problem of balancing home decor dreams with the desire to live ethically and greenly; to protect the environment, support good businesses, and to live thoughtfully. 

That's what this blog is all about.  I'm a home decor nut.  I go to my library every day and read up on the principles of decorating, cleaning, decluttering, and organizing, and I'm going to share my findings with you. 

And I tell you what.  I've never purchased a couch.  I've never painted a room.  I've never antiqued a dresser.  I still get compliments on my rooms.  I don't have a bedskirt, but my floors are vacuumed and my dishes are done.  Based on my personal experience, I believe that:

(1. Decluttering is the key to building a prettier house

and

(2.  You can do some mighty fine decorating with what you already have
